Welcome To Fields of Life

Note From Trevor...

2007 was a productive and fruitful year for Fields of Life. We have to thank God for the growth, prosperity and blessings that have arrived at our door. New projects have come to us tentatively as possibilities. These projects have been sown as seeds, and although sowed, will need to be nurtured vigorously to reach fruition going forward and beyond to 2009. There have been some staff changes, but even these have resulted in blessings which have opened doors for not only those moving on, but for those who have been welcomed into our FOL family:

In the beginning (1995 - 1997)

Fields of Life is a registered charity in the UK and Ireland, established in 1995 by Trevor and Ruth Stevenson. The original vision was to pioneer a training farm, but this vision evolved in direct response to the requirement for a primary school for the local community. The outcome of this initial project was the Fields of Life Academy which was built and established in 1997.

Our development

Education
As a result of Fields of Life's first project, education became the main focus of the organisation's work, which flourished under the direction of Trevor Stevenson. As the years have rolled on, over 20,000 children now attend the 55+ schools built by FOL in East Africa (Uganda, Rwanda, Kenya, Burundi and Congo).  Many children suffer from the culture of poverty - sickness, malnutrition, broken homes and despair.  Most schools are predominantly located in Uganda, and offer an opportunity for survival and hope for the future.

Social care
There are now four medical centres providing community base health care. In addition, well-drilling has commenced in various rural communities where clean water is not readily available; and micro finance projects are boosting incomes at local level.  The micro fiannce projects give people the dignity of providing for their families, and are alternative to crime, begging or prostitution for income generation.

The future

Mission
To change lives and build sustainable communities through teaching the Christian faith and through the provision of quality education, health care and income generating projects.

Funding Plan
To share internationally the very specific needs of our friends in East Africa. To keep donors informed of the life changing effects of their contribution. (Note - 98% of any donation will be sent to East Africa).
